Egyptian Blowout

A smoothing treatment built on Egyptian oils rather than harsh chemistry. Softer than a relaxer, kinder than a keratin, and it leaves your curl pattern intact.

The Treatment

Smooth, without giving up your texture

The house treatment, developed over eighteen years at this chair.

Start with a consultation

An Egyptian blowout is a conditioning smoothing service. Warm Egyptian oils are worked through the hair in sections, drawn down with heat, and sealed, so the cuticle lies flat and the hair reads glossy and straight without being chemically restructured.

That distinction matters. A relaxer permanently breaks the bonds that give your hair its pattern. A keratin treatment coats and holds it. This does neither. When it grows out, or when it washes out, your curl is exactly where you left it.

It is the service clients book before a wedding, a reunion, or a season of wanting their mornings back, and the one she recommends most often to anyone whose hair has been over-processed and needs a rest.

What it does

Seals the cuticle for a lasting shine
Cuts drying and styling time dramatically
Calms frizz through humidity
Conditions with warm Egyptian oils
Leaves your natural pattern intact

What it is not

Not a relaxer or a perm
Not a keratin or formaldehyde service
Not permanent, and never irreversible
Not a substitute for a trim
Not a color service

The Appointment

Two and a half hours, start to finish

Nothing is rushed, and nothing is done to your hair without being explained first.

  1. i. 15 min

    Assessment

She reads your hair dry: porosity, density, past chemical work, and how it behaves in the room. The oil blend is chosen here.

  2. ii. 25 min

    Clarify & cleanse

A double cleanse lifts product and mineral buildup, so the oils reach the hair shaft rather than sitting on top of it.

  3. iii. 20 min

    The oil treatment

Warm Egyptian oils are worked section by section from scalp to ends, then left to penetrate under gentle heat.

  4. iv. 15 min

    Scalp massage

The Egyptian scalp massage is part of the service, not an upsell. It moves blood to the follicle and it is the part clients talk about.

  5. v. 45 min

    Blow out & press

Small sections, controlled tension, and no more heat than the hair needs. This is where the smoothing actually happens.

  6. vi. 15 min

    Seal & finish

A final pass to close the cuticle, a light finishing oil, and the shape is cut in or refined if you booked a trim.

The Oils Used

The oils that make it Egyptian

The blend is chosen for your hair on the day, from the same collection sold on the boutique shelf. Take home whichever one she used, and your blowout keeps its life a good deal longer.

Aftercare

Making it last

i.

Wait 48 hours

Leave the hair down and dry for two days. No ponytails, no clips, nothing that creases the cuticle while it is still setting.

ii.

Wash less, gently

Sulphate-free only, and no more than once a week. Every wash costs you a little of the smoothing.

iii.

Wrap at night

Silk or satin, every night. This single habit is the difference between four weeks and eight.

iv.

Keep the oil going

A few drops of the oil she used, on the ends, twice a week. It is the same blend, so it does the same work.

v.

Rebook before you need to

Most clients return every six to eight weeks. She will tell you your interval at the end of the appointment.

I have been going to Susu for Egyptian blowouts for over three years. She does an incredible job every time, with my hair looking transformed! The proof is in her dedication - she will always listen to what you want and make it work.

… Susu recommended the Egyptian Blowout which I did back in May 2023 and it held up well since then. I have thick hair, which other hair stylists made comments about that made me feel uncomfortable. With Susu, it was the total opposite. She was also very patient, kind and welcoming.

Susu is amazing! She is so sweet I felt completely comfortable and at home. I have 3c mixed race hair and she made it pin straight with her "Egyptian blowout" ie straight perm/keratin treatment. I've had lots of straight perms and relaxers before so I promise I know what I'm talking about--Susu is IT. …

Questions

About the Egyptian blowout

Anything not answered here gets answered on your consultation call.

Will it loosen or change my curl pattern?

No. Nothing in this service breaks or rebuilds the bonds that hold your pattern. Once the treatment washes out, your curl returns exactly as it was. That is the whole point of it.

How long does it last?

Four to eight weeks for most clients. Wash frequency, humidity, and whether you wrap at night make the difference. Fine hair tends to hold a little longer than very dense hair.

How is it different from a Brazilian blowout?

A Brazilian blowout uses a keratin-based solution sealed in with heat, and some formulations release formaldehyde. The Egyptian blowout is an oil-based conditioning treatment with no such chemistry, which is why it is gentler and why it is not permanent.

Can I get it if my hair is colored?

Yes, and it often improves how colored hair looks, because the oils address the dryness that color leaves behind. Tell her about any color work on your consultation call so she can time the two services correctly.

Does it help with hair growth?

It is not a growth treatment, but the scalp massage and the reduced daily heat styling both support healthier hair. Less breakage means more length retained over time.

Can I add a cut or color the same day?

A trim, yes, and it is usually the right call. Color is generally booked as a separate appointment so neither service is rushed. She will arrange both on your call.
